What are we

  • The Plymouth Jewish CIC is committed to serving all Jews who live, work, or study in the Plymouth area, regardless of background, level of observance, denomination, or identity.

  • We welcome anyone who identifies as Jewish, is exploring their connection to Judaism, including Sephardi, Ashkenazi, Mizrahi, Orthodox, Reform, Conservative, Reconstructionist, Liberal, secular, queer, cultural, questioning, or simply curious as well as those who are allies and supporters of Jews including those who have ancestral Jewish connections.

  • Our mission is to foster a welcoming, inclusive, and vibrant Jewish community that reflects the diversity of Jewish life and brings greater cohesion to Plymouth’s Jewish population within the city and into the wider region.

  • We are also committed to working with allies and non-Jewish communities to build understanding of what it means to be a British Jew today, including the cultural richness and the challenges of antisemitism in Plymouth and the South West

  • Through education, dialogue, training and proper community engagement, we aim to create a more inclusive civic space in Plymouth and the South West.

What will we do

  • Organising cultural, educational, and other events for the Jewish community in Plymouth.

  • Promoting dialogue and community cohesion through outreach and collaboration.

  • Partnering with civic, educational, and cultural institutions across Plymouth and the Southwest.

  • The CIC will operate exclusively for community benefit, not private profit.

  • Activities are designed to be inclusive and accessible, with services offered at low or no cost.

  • Funding will be sourced from grants, donations, and community fundraising, not commercial sales.

What benefit will it do

  • Bringing people together to share in their common bond in a city with no cultural Jewish place to convene.

  • Using the power of a CIC to bring in funding to run events for those who wish to understand more about Jewish life and be able to advocate for those who need support as British Jews

  • Foster greater understanding of Jewish life, religious, cultural, and ancestral in education settings and any groups who are interested which will lead to greater civic cohesion and community relations across the city and beyond

  • All profits will be reinvested into community programs, including youth engagement, community events, training, cultural education, and outreach.

  • No dividends will be paid to shareholders; surplus funds will be used to expand services and deepen impact.
