More Joy, Less Oy - Launching Klezmer by the Sea on BBC Radio Devon and Cornwall

We joined the BBC Radio Devon and Cornwall breakfast show to talk about Jewish life in Plymouth, the work of Plymouth Jewish Community CIC and to make a rather exciting announcement.

It was a conversation that covered a lot of ground. The real challenges facing Jewish communities across the region right now - and why so many Jewish people are making quiet, daily calculations about how visibly Jewish they feel safe being. The training and workshops we run to help organisations better understand and support Jewish colleagues and community members. And the simple but powerful belief that drives everything we do: that the best response to a difficult moment is not to retreat, but to show up.

And show up we are, in style.

We were thrilled to announce Klezmer by the Sea, coming to Theatre Royal Plymouth's Drum on Wednesday 10 June as part of the UK's very first Jewish Culture Month. An evening of joyful, soulful, toe-tapping klezmer music in a cabaret-style setting, for everyone, not just the Jewish community. Plus educational outreach in Plymouth schools the following day.

Jewish culture has so much joy to share. And Plymouth, we believe, is ready for it.

Have a listen to the full interview below, and we'll see you on 10 June. 🎻
