We're in the Plymouth Herald!
We're delighted to share that Klezmer by the Sea has been featured in the Plymouth Herald. The piece celebrates our partnership with Theatre Royal Plymouth and the wider story behind this summer's event — part of the UK's inaugural Jewish Culture Month.
The article introduces the Klezmer Village Band — violinist Ilana Cravitz, clarinettist John MacNaughton and double bassist Theo Malka-Wishart — three of the most experienced klezmer performers in the UK, who'll bring this rich tradition of Jewish and Eastern European music to the city. It also highlights something close to our hearts: the educational outreach reaching into Plymouth schools, where hundreds of young people will discover the history and culture behind the music.
As our director Louise Clements puts it, klezmer is a tradition that has travelled across continents and centuries — full of energy and warmth, and an invitation to everyone, of all faiths and backgrounds, to come together.
Klezmer by the Sea takes place on Wednesday 10 June at The Drum, Theatre Royal Plymouth, with the schools outreach the following day. We hope you'll join us.
